On the 4th of December we had our first video conference with the group based in India.
We think that it went really well, we had some great topics to talk about. We had some great conversations with each other which was really nice. It was a wonderful experience and it is pretty special that we could talk to people all the way from India. Unfortunately we didn’t have a second video conference or a WhatsApp group. It would have been an even better experience if we talked to each other over text because we could've had more information about India in general.
Results we picked up durig our Skype conference
In India the households can consist out of the entire family with children, parents, grand parents, uncles and aunts and their children. When the children go to school, they mostly go to a school with girls only or boys only.
Children don’t have homework and they help their parents with work because most of the time the family has their own business.
Furthermore the men have more rights than the women. It’s been like that for a very long time. While in the Netherlands we are equal, we go to same schools, most of us have a household with parents and children only. We have to do homework for school and we are most likely going to work for a company instead of a family business. These are the main differences between us and the Indian group we talked to via Skype.
