Family life

Results interviews Parents:
There were some remarkable differences and similarities, take for an example the values that were being taught. The values that were being taught were quite similar, we could conclude that in those times most families raised their children quite strict and didn’t show much leniency. What also was similar was the fact that mostly the wife did the household, if you talk about house hold you can think about stuff like cleaning, cooking and taking care of the children. Also the education was quite similar, but we think that has to do with the values that were being taught back than, because it was just quite strict, so the schools were strict aswell, and what the students learned was quite similar.
We were also faced with some major differences, take their family for example. In India it is very common to have a joined family, that means that the parents, grandparents and children lived together, often with even someone else, like an uncle. With our parents that wasn’t the case, they told us that it was the opposite. They mostly had extended families. The hieracy was also a difference, because they had a different structure in their families, their grandparents were mostly in charge. Because they were the elders. But with our parents, they were the ones in charge.
Results interviews GrandParents:
Just like with the results of the parents, there were quite a few differences and similarities. The things that were the same were that there were a lot of people in the family. Back in those times the families were rather large in comparison with now. The also both had a nuclear family. That has changed with the current times. The differences were things like hierarchy, so who was in ‘’charge’’ of the family. They also had different working sectors compared to eachother. But in general. They don’t differ a whole lot.
Conclusion results GrandParents and Parents:
The differences are not that suprising here. With the grandparents, they mostly had bigger families, so thats a difference, but also they had different workings sectors. I reckon that could be because The Netherlands developed and education became better. That's why new jobs became available. We had also concluded that the parents and grandparents had different interests, but that's also because time changes. There were other things back in the days than there are now. But overall, the values that they were being taught stayed quite the same, and even with the current generation, I don't think the values changed a whole lot.
