Conclusion
The research question was, what are the biggest differences between the Netherlands and India and for us, family wise. They had written down that in the past people were orthodox, meaning they could not really speak freely and share their thoughts, they said that, that situation changed and we can safely agree with that. Although I do think In The Netherlands we have some more freedom of speech, especially about religious subjects. They mentioned that alot has changed as in values within their family. They spoke about that nowadays alot of children had forgotten their culture and values their parents taught them. Well I tend to disagree, alot has changed, and surely also the hierachy within the family, meaning that in the past elders were mostly in charge in the family. But they mentioned that people nowadays mostly forget their culture and values, but we believe that that purely depends on the way you were raised and thus meaning that did not neccesarily change over the course of time.
For the next part, we'll talk about hierachy, they said that in the present times parents are more equal, and we can definitely agree with that. In the past, mostly man got an education and went to work. But in the present time, women and men are mostly both treated equally, thus meaning the hierachy did change and we agree with that, meaning it also changed in The Netherlands. Now we'll look at the influence that parents have on their children, well that's tough to judge. The Indian students mention that in the past you were more controlled by your parents, thus meaning they would mostly decide your future career etcetera. We tend to disagree and agree with this, yes we do believe that in the past you were more controlled by your parents, but I don't think as much as in India. It really depends on the type of parents that you have, but generally in the past you were still allowed to decide your future career yourself. This may have changed a little, but here you certainly have a difference between India and The Netherlands.
So what really are the differences between The Netherlands and India? Well, we can safely say there are quite a few differences but also numerous similarities. Take for an example Religion, religion is not as important in the netherlands than it is in India. Meanwhile the hierachy changed the same over time if you compare India to The Netherlands. We think that the biggest difference still is the Orthodox, in The Netherlands you mostly are free to think and say whatever you want, but we believe this is still not the case in India. So that would be the biggest difference. We decided to not take any pictures of the interviewee's due to privacy,
